Child trafficking affects communities in many countries where Plan is working. Statistics are difficult to gather on child trafficking as many children are forced to work behind closed doors in domestic households, small shops or stalls or in brothels.

Article 35 of the Convention on the Rights of the Children states that:

"State Parties shall take all appropriate national, bilateral and multilateral measures to prevent the abduction of, the sale of or traffic in children for any purpose or in any form".

Plan advocates and raises awareness about child trafficking at local, national and international level.
