Plan in Egypt
Egypt, or Misr as the Egyptians call it, is an Arab country in North Africa. It is home to the Nile, the world's longest river, which flows from south to north over the entire length of the country.
The country's economy is based on agriculture, with over half of the population working the land. Cotton is one of the most important crops. Tourism, the Suez Canal, and oil are the major sources of foreign currency.
Plan’s work
Many of Plan’s projects in Egypt focus on improving living conditions, giving children broader educational opportunities, providing vocational training or initiating activities to improve income. Plan also works with children and their families to promote health awareness and protect children from diseases, and works with communities to make sure they have access to drinking water, sanitation and secure housing.
