Sierra Leone

 

Plan’s work in Sierra Leone was adversely affected by the country’s recent civil war. During 1999, we were forced to suspend our remaining sponsorship programs as many children and families had fled their villages after rebels destroyed their homes. Currently, our work in Sierra Leone continues through an innovative educational program called RapidEd. This program offers school fees, teacher training, and trauma counselling for war-affected children.

Plan recently re-started it's child sponsorship program in some areas of Sierra Leone and is expanding the work to including health and advocating for child rights.
